KSU Retirees Association Speakers Colloquium colloquium

11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
KSU Center, Room 464

You are invited to bring your lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided.

Sustainability in the curriculum has long been a tenant at Kennesaw State University. With the advent of Sus-tainability Fellows within the university, many colleges and departments saw faculty incorporating sustainable principles into their curriculum. Within the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, this provid-ed various challenges because of the lack of guidance provided to engineering faculty. The Engineering One Planet (EOP) framework has provided meaningful guidelines to allow engineering faculty to design courses with sustainability, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at the core. This presentation details an example of how the EOP Framework was used to create a community ecosystem of learning within an Introduction to Civil Engineering course.

Roneisha Worthy, Ph.D., is Assistant Chair and Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Kenne-saw State University’s Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology. Prior to joining the University, she was a Research Assistant at Vanderbilt University in the Vanderbilt Center for Environmental Manage-ment Studies. Her main research focus centers on the representation of minority groups in Science, Technology, Engi-neering, and Math. Dr. Worthy received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental Concentration) and her Master of Engineering (Civil and Environmental Concentration) from Tennessee State University. She complet-ed her Ph.D. in Environmental Management from Vanderbilt University.
